INSIDE OUT

A soft structure that reverses the logic of enclosure
Presented as part of ARTNOU 2025 at Espai Souvenir, INSIDE OUT unfolds architecture as a living threshold—transparent, mobile, and collectively held.

INSIDE OUT treats architecture not only as enclosure, but as inquiry—where form carries thought, and structure becomes proposition. The transparent pneumatic structure invites the body to move through shifting thresholds, tracing the soft edges of space, relation, and perception.

To deepen its site-specific resonance, printed impressions of ESPAI SOUVENIR’s interior—scanned and transferred onto the PVC surface—collapse the boundary between container and contained. The memory of the site becomes embedded in the structure itself, amplifying the work’s reflection on permeability, context, and adaptive urban form.

Adaptable and iterative, INSIDE OUT remaps space with each presentation—dismantling barriers, proposing new spatial narratives, and folding viewers into its soft, transparent logic. It transforms not only the site, but also how we perceive and participate in our shared environments.

In its first public activation, the installation was carried by neighbors, volunteers, and invited collectives through courtyards, pavements, and passageways. What was once held within was brought outside—its surfaces, seams, and time-worn details revealed through movement, touch, and proximity.

This collective procession transformed the static structure into a mobile archive. Private experience became public ritual; architecture was no longer fixed, but performed. The act blurred distinctions between audience and participant, exhibition and city—resisting spectacle in favor of intimacy, slowness, and shared encounter. Moving through familiar and contested terrain, INSIDE OUT invited new ways of sensing and relating to space.
