NAKED SPACE

Air Lab is a collaborative spatial environment developed by Nike Global Design and the Dropcity Design Team, with the central installation created in collaboration with NAKED SPACE. The project explores how air can be shaped into a collective interface—supporting rest, listening, and informal gathering within an open architectural setting.

At its core is a large-scale inflatable structure, developed from the logic of the Nike Air Liquid Max underfoot system. The installation translates this technical language into space: a clustered geometry of interconnected rounded cells forming a continuous, irregular surface.

The structure operates as a pneumatic field. Variations in height and localized depressions emerge through use, subtly registering the presence of bodies over time. Rather than prescribing a fixed function, it invites sitting, reclining, and drifting—allowing interaction to remain fluid and self-organized.

Positioned centrally within the space, the installation maintains a clear perimeter from the surrounding architecture. Circulation unfolds around its edges, while engagement concentrates toward its interior. The result is a soft, responsive landscape—one that holds collective presence without hierarchy.

Within the Air Library program, the installation supports a series of talks, breathing sessions, and daily listening sessions curated by C2C Festival (Club to Club). It becomes both a spatial anchor and a shared surface—where attention, rest, and exchange are distributed across bodies rather than directed from a single point.

Air Lab proposes a condition rather than an object: a temporary environment where air, structure, and collective use come into alignment.
