NAKED SPACE

A seating object for reducing the space between bodies.

SOFANOVA is a collective seating object formed through air. Its circular geometry and continuous surface create a shared orientation, reducing the physical gaps between individual seats and encouraging bodies to sit, lean, shift, and gather in closer relation.

Constructed from recyclable PVC tarpaulin and supported by a low-pressure air system, the surface responds subtly to changing body weight while remaining soft and stable. Lightweight and transportable, the object can move between contexts and be reconfigured through scale, arrangement, and placement.

Originally developed as a seating device, SOFANOVA has gradually become a spatial tool for gathering. Each deployment can form part of a larger site-specific condition, shaped through sound, light, surrounding architecture, and collective use.

Rather than prescribing how it should be occupied, SOFANOVA becomes complete through the bodies it holds — temporarily reorganizing proximity around a shared surface.
